Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance train tickets for Eid-ul-Fit from Tuesday, aiming to ensure smooth and comfortable travel for homebound passengers.

The advance tickets will be available online from March 3 to March 9, while return journey tickets will be sold from March 13 to March 18.

All tickets are being sold exclusively through the online platform.

Meanwhile, advance ticket sales for long-distance buses have also begun.

Tickets for inter-city trains in the western zone are now available, while those for the eastern region will go live at 2pm, according to Rezaul Karim Siddique, the public relations officer at the Ministry of Railways.

Railway officials say each passenger will be allowed to purchase tickets only once using a single national ID card. A maximum of four seats can be booked in one transaction.

Tickets bought for Eid travel will not be eligible for refund under any circumstances.

According to Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners Association's secretary Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, ticket sales will be available from this morning through both ticket counters and online platforms. Passengers will be able to purchase tickets by selecting their preferred bus and seat through designated websites.

He also emphasized that operators are not permitted to charge fares beyond the rates set by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
