2 held with counterfeit money in capital’s Uttara

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3) arrested two individuals along with fake notes while processing ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival from capital’s Uttara on Thursday.

The suspects, recent HSC graduates from Milestone School and College, reportedly moved from Feni to Dhaka for their studies.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB officials raided a flat in Uttara’s Sector 5

During the operation, authorities seized counterfeit currency worth approximately and arrested two young individuals along with worth Tk 26 lakh fake note.

RAB officials stated that the duo intended to exploit the Eid shopping season by circulating fake notes in the market. The arrestees also claimed to be preparing for higher education abroad while engaging in the illegal operation.

Further investigations are underway to dismantle the syndicate and identify any additional collaborators, officials added.
