A leader of the United People’s Democratic Front was shot to death in Khagrachhari’s Panchhari upazila on Friday morning.

The incident took place around 8:30AM in the Sutkarma Para area of the Sadar Union.

Deceased Nitidutta Chakma was the Upazila coordinator of the UPDF.

Panchhari Police Station chief (OC) Md Ferdous Wahid said police rushed to the scene after the shooting.

However, locals had already taken the injured Nitidutta to Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Meanwhile, leaders of the UPDF (Democratic) have blamed a faction of the UPDF led by Prasit Khisa for the killing.
