One detained over assault on cricketer Nayeem: CMP commissioner

Expressing regret over the assault on cricketer Nayeem Hasan, Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Hasan Md Shawkat Ali has said that one of the accused has been detained in connection with the incident.

On Saturday, he said no one responsible will be spared.

The three accused policemen have been closed (withdrawn) and attached to Dampara Police Lines, CMP) Commissioner added.

He visited Nayeem's home in Bahaddarhat's Faridapara at 12noon on Saturday, expressing regret over the incident.

"We have found the truth of the incident in the initial investigation. We want to work with professionalism. the officers had failed to act professionally,'' Md Shawkat Ali told the journalists present at the house.

''Police always seek to work professionally. If anyone behaves unprofessionally, we will take action in accordance with the rules.''
