The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has reportedly foiled attempts by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push-in a total of 20 people into Bangladesh through the border areas of Chuadanga and Kurigram districts.
According to local sources, BSF personnel attempted to push in 11 individuals into Bangladesh through Pillars 76/77 along the Darshana border in Chuadanga early Sunday.
However, a patrol team of BGB intercepted the attempt and prevented their entry. The BSF later took the group-- eight men and three women-- back and kept them near the Indian side of the border.
Lt Col Nazmul Hasan, Commanding Officer of BGB-6 Battalion in Chuadanga, said that BGB continues its patrols, intelligence surveillance and operational activities to prevent push-ins and other illegal activities along the border.
In a separate incident, the BSF allegedly attempted to push nine people, including two children, into Bangladesh through the Roumari border in Kurigram district. The attempt took place in the early hours through the Goytapara and Izlamari border points.
BGB personnel prevented the group from entering Bangladesh, and they are currently reported to be staying inside Indian territory near the border.
