The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has categorically dismissed media reports suggesting that restrictions on broadcasting the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been removed, confirming the ban imposed by the previous government remains fully effective.

A press release issued Saturday by the ministry directly refuted claims published by several news outlets, specifically citing a report in The Daily Star headlined "Govt lifts bar on IPL telecast in Bangladesh" alongside similar stories carried by other media organizations.

"The decision taken by the previous government to suspend IPL broadcasts still remains in force," the ministry stated in its official clarification.

The ministry disclosed that it has formally sought opinions and guidance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports regarding the broadcasting restriction before determining any policy changes.

Future steps concerning the IPL broadcast ban will be decided based on recommendations received from the Youth and Sports Ministry, according to the statement.

The ministry asked all concerned media outlets to urgently publish its formal protest and clarification to eliminate confusion generated by the inaccurate reports circulating among the public.
