Mamun-Masud named as accused in crimes against humanity case

Former Director General of DGFI Lt  Gen (Retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled and former GOC of the Army's 9th Division Lt Gen (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury have been named as accused in a crimes against humanity case.

On Sunday, the prosecution pleaded to the International Crimes Tribunal-2 to show the duo arrested.

Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim said that Mamun Khaled has been named in connection with enforced disappearance allegations during the Awami League's rule, while Masud Uddin Chowdhury faces charges related to the July genocide.

Meanwhile, the second tribunal ordered to produce the two accused before it on April 7. 

Earlier, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Masud Uddin Chowdhury during a raid conducted in the Baridhara DOHS area of the capital on March 23.

Former director general (DG) of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Lt Gen (Retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled was arrested from his Mirpur DOHS residence on the night of March 25.
