Prime Minister’s Adviser on Education and Primary Education, Mahdi Amin, announced that the Prime Minister is expected to attend the final match of the Primary School Gold Cup Football Tournament as the chief guest.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday, Mahdi Amin said that more than 2.2 million students--over 1.1 million boys and 1.1 million girls --have participated in the nationwide tournament, which began on April 8.
The competition has progressed through school, union, municipality, upazila, district, and divisional levels, reaching the national stage.
The final is scheduled to be held on June 20 at the National Army Stadium. Mahdi Amin emphasized that the tournament is helping students develop discipline, teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills.
He also highlighted the government's broader vision of promoting creativity, innovation, sports, culture, and co-curricular activities alongside academic education. As part of this effort, the government is launching nationwide initiatives, including a “Start-up Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing” program for secondary and higher secondary students, where innovative ideas may receive seed funding and support.
In addition, the government plans to organize a Technical and Vocational Education Week, career fairs, on-the-spot recruitment opportunities, and nationwide competitions in skills development, innovation, debate, art, and environmental activities, including a large-scale tree plantation campaign.
According to Mahdi Amin, these initiatives aim to nurture future innovators, entrepreneurs, skilled professionals, and responsible citizens who can contribute to Bangladesh’s development.
