Tamima Sultana Tammi, spouse of Bangladesh cricketer Nasir Hossain, appeared before a Dhaka court on Wednesday, asserting that her marriage is legal and rejecting claims that she remarried before finalizing her divorce from her first husband.

Her cross-examination concluded at the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam, where she maintained her innocence and sought justice.

The complainant’s lawyer argued that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence, while the court scheduled the final arguments for May 6.

The case was filed on February 24, 2021, by Tamima’s former husband, Rakib Hasan, alleging that she married Nasir Hossain before completing her divorce.

Charges were framed against the couple on February 7, 2022.

If found guilty, the couple could face imprisonment of five to seven years.
