A Dhaka court has placed former Director General of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Lt Gen (retd) Sheikh Mamun Khaled, on a fresh three-day remand in a case over the killing of BNP activist Mokbul Hossain.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Md. Junaid passed the order on Thursday (April 9) after police produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand.
The investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Tofazzal Hossain of the DB Police's Motijheel Division, argued that further interrogation was necessary. The prosecution supported the plea, while the defence opposed it and sought bail.
Earlier, Mamun Khaled was arrested in a raid in Mirpur on March 25. He was subsequently remanded for 5 days and then 6 days in phases. After completion of 11 days in custody, police again sought a four-day remand; the court granted three days.
