Prof Dr Abdus Salam joins as DU Pro-VC 

Professor Dr Abdus Salam of the Department of Chemistry on Wednesday joined the office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic).

According to Article 13(1) of the DU Ordinance, 1973, he has been appointed to the post following the approval from the President, who is also the Chancellor of the university.

He was formally welcomed by the DU VC Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam. 

Among those present at his joining ceremony were DU Pro-VC (Administration) Professor Dr Sayma Haq Bidisha, Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Abul Kalam Sarkar, various faculties, provosts of different halls, and chairmen of different departments, as well.

In his initial reaction, the newly appointed Pro-VC  expressed his commitment to ensuring administrative transparency and accountability through collective efforts.

The DU VC said appointing the right person to key positions remains a significant challenge for the university. "If the right person is not appointed, the institution suffers," he added.
