REHAB elects Ali Afzal as new president, Abdur Razzak as senior vice president

The preliminary results of the biennial elections for the 2026-2028 term of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) have been announced.

The Election Commission officially declared the preliminary results around 1 am on Saturday after completing manual vote counting following a peaceful day-long election.

According to the results, Dr Md Ali Afzal was elected president with 232 votes. Abdur Razzak won the senior vice president post with 216 votes after a close contest.

The active participation of candidates and the enthusiastic turnout of voters from beginning to end made the election process lively.

Mohammad Akhter Biswas was elected as the vice president-1 with 250 votes, Abu Khalid Md. Barkatullah as the vice president-2 with 255 votes and AFM Ubaidullah as the vice president-3 with 234 votes. Dr Md Harun Or Rashid won the post of Vice President for Finance by getting 262 votes.

In addition, Mohammad Morshedul Hasan was elected as the Vice President of Chattogram Region by getting the highest number of 317 votes.

Mohammad Labib Billah won the post of Director by getting 338 votes, which is one of the highest votes received in this election.

In the same post, Umme Jahan Arju and Habibur Rahman Habib won the second and third places respectively by getting 304 votes.

Other directors elected include- AZM Kamruddin, Captain Md Shah Alam, Md Khawaja Nazibullah, Sheikh Kamal, Md Emdadul Hossain Sohel, Dr. N. Joha, Alhaj Professor Md. Faruk Ahmed, Tasnova Mahbub Salam, Md. Zahir Ahmed, Md. Zahid Hossain, Engineer Md. Mostafa Kamal, Md. Emdadul Haque, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, M Fakhrul Islam, Engineer Manjurul Farhad Philip, Suruj Sardar and Alhaj Golam Kibria Majumdar.

2 directors were elected from Chattogram, ASM Abdul Gaffar Miyaji and Sarist Binte Nur. In addition, 6 members of the REHAB Chattogram Regional Committee were elected, respectively, Nur Mohammad, Eng. SK Nazim Uddin, Syed Irfanul Alam, Ashish Roy Chowdhury, Hrishikesh Chowdhury and SM Shahidullah.

Three panels participated in the election. Progressive Real Estate Businessmen Council won 15 posts including President, Senior Vice President, Vice President (Finance), Vice President-2 and Vice President-3 and 10 directors. On the other hand, Real Estate Businessmen Oikya Parishad won 14 posts including Vice President-1 and Vice President (Chattogram) and 12 directors. No one from the Jagran panel could win.
