Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) has directed -- Padma, Meghna, and Jamuna, its three distribution companies -- to increase fuel supply at refueling stations across the country.  According to the directives, BPC instructed a 10 per cent increase in diesel and petrol supply, and a 20 per cent increase in octane supply at refueling stations across the country.

Earlier, the government capped fuel sales in line with average daily demand between March and May last year to curb artificial demand caused by hoarding and panic buying, distributors were allowed to sell diesel at an average of 11,862 tonnes per day, octane at 1,185 tonnes, and petrol at 1,374 tonnes.

As per the latest directive, diesel sales will rise to 13,048 tonnes daily, octane to 1,422 tonnes, and petrol to 1,511 tonnes starting Monday.
