A vessel carrying 100,000 tons of crude oil from Saudi Arabia is to arrive at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Pport on May 5.

Md Sharif Hasnat, Managing Director of the state-owned Eastern Refinery PLC (ERL), confirmed that the vessel, MT Nineemia, has already crossed the Red Sea and is currently navigating to the Bay of Bengal.

He noted that the ship successfully bypassed Houthi-controlled coastal areas in Yemen and avoided conflict zones in the Strait of Hormuz to reach the safety of the Arabian Sea.

Hasnat also mentioned that a second vessel, the Nordic Pollux, remains stranded at Saudi Arabia’s Ras Tanura port with another 100,000 tons of crude due to the de facto closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
