37,814 families received money through family cards, says PM

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has announced that 37,814 female heads of marginal and low-income families have been brought under the Family Card program.

''Each family has already been receiving a monthly allowance of Tk 2,500,'' he said while responding to a written question from lawmaker Md Robiul Awal on Wednesday. 

The Prime Minister said the current government is working toward building a safe, inclusive and climate-resilient Bangladesh, where women and children will be equal partners in sustainable development and future generations will inherit a prosperous nation.

He further noted that various initiatives are being implemented under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs to ensure the overall development and welfare of women and children. 

Key programs include the Vulnerable Women Benefit (VWB) scheme aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of disadvantaged women; maternal and child assistance programs focused on prenatal nutrition and child development; microcredit programs to support women’s self-employment; and the Joyeeta Foundation, which helps market products produced by women entrepreneurs.
