Two more people were killed in separate lightning strikes during a Nor'wester in Jamalpur on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shamim Mia, 38, a fisherman from Morakandi village of Islampur upazila and Sagar, 13, a construction laborer from Chiniyapara village at Dewanganj upazila.
According to local and family sources, Shamim had gone fishing in the river with a group of fishermen around 5:00 AM. He was struck by lightning and died on the spot.
Meanwhile, young Sagar was working on a road construction project when he was fatally struck by another bolt of lightning.
With these latest fatalities, the death toll from lightning strikes and storms in the district has risen to seven within just two days.
This includes four deaths from lightning and three members of a single family a mother and her two daughters who died when a tree fell on their house during the storm.
