Bangladesh on Thursday mounted a fresh drive to attract Danish investment, with Commerce, Industry, Textiles and Jute Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir assuring Copenhagen that the new government is pushing ahead with business reforms, infrastructure upgrades and logistics modernisation to make the country a more competitive destination for foreign capital.
During a meeting at his Secretariat office with Danish Ambassador Christian Briks Moller, the minister urged Denmark to scale up investment in Bangladesh's high-potential sectors, particularly renewable energy, infrastructure and manufacturing.
"Bangladesh is an investment-friendly country with immense opportunities for foreign investors, backed by skilled manpower, a vast consumer market and a strategic geographic position," Muktadir said.
The two sides discussed a broadening of bilateral trade, investment flows and deeper economic cooperation, as Dhaka seeks to draw more long-term European capital into productive sectors amid its post-transition growth agenda.
Highlighting Bangladesh's demographic dividend, the minister said a large pool of young workers is entering the labour market every year, creating a strong foundation for industrial expansion and fresh investment.
He added that the government is simultaneously working to improve physical infrastructure, enhance logistics efficiency and simplify business procedures - measures he said would send "a strong positive signal" to overseas investors.
