Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman has pledged to dedicate himself to the country's development by identifying himself as a worker, calling on citizens to join him in a collective effort to build the nation.

Addressing a May Day rally organized by the Jatiyatabadi Sramik Dal, the labor wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, at Nayapaltan in the capital on Friday afternoon, the prime minister urged everyone to adopt the mindset of a laborer working for the country's progress.

"Let us prepare ourselves as workers dedicated to building the nation. We should spend the rest of our lives acting as nation-building workers," he told the gathering.

Speaking directly to the labor representatives, Rahman expressed his desire to formally add his name, along with those of his cabinet members, to the ledger of the working class.

He drew a parallel between the physical labor of the workforce and the governing responsibilities of his administration.

"Just as construction workers build edifices, jute workers increase factory output, and garment workers boost the apparel sector, I want to enroll as a worker dedicated to building this country," he explained.

He emphasized that the entire cabinet shares this vision of working alongside the public as laborers for national development.

The prime minister assured the working class that the government intends to stand firmly beside them to drive the country forward. Acknowledging the relentless hard work of the Bangladeshi people, he stated that true national progress can only be achieved by working shoulder-to-shoulder with the masses.

Reiterating his administration's core philosophy, Rahman reminded the crowd of the guiding principle behind their political mandate.

"That is why our election slogan was 'Will work, will build the country, Bangladesh first.' This is our current motto, and it will remain our guiding slogan for the future," he affirmed.
