Bangladesh all out for 102 after rain interrupts Mirpur clash

Bangladesh suffered another batting collapse on home turf, folding for just 102 runs in a rain-curtailed match at Mirpur on Saturday.

Despite the game starting on time, heavy rainfall immediately after the powerplay forced a lengthy interruption, eventually reducing the match to 15 overs per side.

Opting to bat first after losing the toss, Bangladesh struggled to adapt to the shortened format, failing to even last their allotted 15 overs.

The hosts were bundled out with four balls to spare in 14.2 overs. Towhid Hridoy top-scored with 33 runs, providing the only significant resistance in a lackluster batting display.

The innings began steadily, but momentum shifted drastically just before the powerplay concluded. Bangladesh lost three crucial wickets in just 10 balls for 14 runs, leaving them at 43 for 3 at the end of the initial six overs.

Rain halted play during the seventh over for nearly two hours, with the score at 50 for 3 after 6.4 overs.

When play resumed at 4:30 pm, the reduced length of the game put immediate pressure on the set batters. Litton Das, who was unbeaten on 25 during the break, added only one more run before departing for 26.

The dismissals of Litton and Hridoy triggered a complete batting meltdown. Lower-order batters, including Shamim Hossain and Mohammad Saifuddin, failed to reach double digits as the tail collapsed under pressure.

The hosts barely crossed the 100-run mark, leaving their bowlers with a challenging task to defend a meager total.
