An individual was killed and three others were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at a scrap shop in Chattogram’s Sitakunda upazila on Saturday noon.

The incident occurred in the Mazar Gate area of Baro Kumira.

The deceased was identified as Arman, a Nasimon driver. Among the injured, two were named as Kamal and Helal, while the identity of another remained unknown.

According to police, the explosion occurred suddenly at the shop, likely triggered by accumulated gas from a cylinder leak. Following the blast, Arman died on the spot, injuring several others.

Later, the injured were rescued and taken to Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex, while one of them was later shifted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Sitakunda Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Moinul Islam confirmed the incident and said that the exact cause of the explosion would be confirmed after investigation.

Legal action is underway, added the OC.
