Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken disciplinary action against five individuals, including a cricketer, over allegations of match-fixing and corruption during the 2025 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
The announcement was made on Thursday by BCB ad-hoc committee chief Tamim Iqbal at a press conference in Mirpur.
Tamim said the investigation found evidence of involvement in fixing and related irregularities against at least five individuals. “The allegations have been proven in the investigation,” he said.
The BCB, however, did not officially disclose the names of the accused at the briefing. The board said details regarding the identities of those punished, the allegations and the nature of the sanctions would be revealed later through a separate statement.
The board launched an extensive investigation after multiple allegations of match-fixing surfaced during the 2025 BPL season involving several teams, players and coaches. Following instructions from then BCB president Faruque Ahmed, a high-level probe committee was formed.
After a lengthy inquiry, the committee submitted a detailed report of nearly 900 pages to the board. The report was later handed over to BCB Integrity Unit chief Alex Marshall, who independently reviewed the findings and reportedly found preliminary evidence against several individuals.
Sources said one of the banned cricketers is Amit Majumder, who played for Rangpur Riders in the BPL, though the identities of the remaining accused have not yet been disclosed officially.
