PM hints at England support in World Cup

Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman on Tuesday gave a light-hearted hint about the team he is supporting in the ongoing FIFA World Cup, without directly naming the side.

Speaking at an interaction with journalists at the China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital, the Prime Minister was asked which team he supports in the tournament.

Responding with a smile, he said, “I lived in one country for a long time.”

Although he did not explicitly mention England, observers linked his comment to his long stay in the United Kingdom, suggesting support for the English national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
