Dhaka North and Dhaka South City corporations have approved a total of 27 temporary cattle markets for the Eid al-Adha.

According to officials, 16 cattle markets will operate under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and 11 under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC). Nationwide, more than 3,600 cattle markets are expected to be set up.

The government has strengthened surveillance along border areas to prevent illegal cattle entry. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, and other law enforcement agencies have been instructed to maintain strict monitoring throughout the Eid period.

Officials said Bangladesh currently has around 12.33 million sacrificial animals prepared for Eid, while estimated demand stands at approximately 10.1 million. This leaves a surplus of more than 2.2 million animals, easing concerns over any potential shortage in the market.
