A Dhaka court on Friday granted a fresh three-day remand for former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) Director Afzal Naser in connection with the financing of violence and sabotage during July uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ripon Hossain issued the order at Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court after Kotwali police requested a seven-day extension for further interrogation.
Investigators informed the court that Naser provided significant information during an initial three-day remand period, which now requires thorough verification.
According to the investigating officer, the additional questioning is essential to identify the primary funding sources, uncover the masterminds behind the alleged sabotage and track down unnamed suspects involved in suppressing student protests.
Police further alleged that Naser served as a financier and key associate of the previous administration, playing a strategic role in organizing operations to dismantle the movement.
