Bangladesh Inter-university Football (Boys and Girls) Tournament-2026 was inaugurated at the University of Chittagong (CU) on Sunday morning.

Chittagong University Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Mohammad Al-Forkan formally inaugurated the tournament as chief guest at the university central playground.

CU is hosting this year’s edition of the tournament, which features a total of 43 university teams. Of them, 34 teams are competing in the boys’ category, while nine teams are participating in the girls’ category.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the vice-chancellor said the inter-university football tournament is being organised after a long gap.

“It was not held for a long time due to various reasons, including tensions between students and teachers. All stakeholders must work together to ensure the tournament is conducted in a peaceful and festive environment,” he said.

The programme was presided over by CU Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Kamal Uddin.

Among others, CU Proctor Professor Dr Hossain Shahid Sarwardy, teachers, CUCSU leaders and students were present at the event.
