A Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred the charge framing hearing in a graft case against Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam, son of former Public Service Commission (PSC) driver Syed Abed Ali Jibon, over allegations of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.

Judge Begum Shamima Afroze of the Divisional Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka set June 17 for the hearing after defence lawyers sought more time.

According to the case statement, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed three separate cases on January 5 against Abed Ali, his wife Shahreen Akter Shilpi and their son Siam over suspicious bank transactions and illegal wealth accumulation.

Siam was accused of acquiring assets worth around Tk 35 million beyond known income sources. He was earlier arrested and sent to jail in the case.
