Rain, thundershowers likely across parts of country

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in several parts of the country during the 24 hours from 9:00 AM on Wednesday.

According to a Met office bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally winds and lightning are likely at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

A few areas in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions may also experience rainfall, while one or two places in the Khulna and Barishal divisions could receive light showers.

The forecast also said moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.

Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the Southwest Bay and adjoining regions remains active over the Southwest Bay and adjacent Westcentral Bay and is likely to intensify further.

Another trough of low pressure lies over West Bengal and adjoining areas, the bulletin added.
