New curriculum rollout from 2028: Hajjaj

State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Sunday said primary school students will receive a new curriculum in 2028 following completion of its design, piloting and teacher training phases. He made this remark while addressing a baseline report sharing meeting on the piloting programme for language skills development at the primary level, organised by the National Academy of Primary Education in Mymensingh.

The state minister said the curriculum design process will be completed within the next year, while teacher training under the new system will be finalised during 2027 and 2028.

"From now on, the benchmark of primary education will be how much students are actually learning," he said, adding that evaluation of officials would be linked to classroom based educational outcomes rather than administrative performance alone.

He stressed the need for improved classroom environments and sanitation facilities to ensure effective learning. "This requires better classrooms and improved washrooms," he said again.

Referring to the proposed curriculum framework, Bobby Hajjaj said the new system will focus on language, mathematics, civic education, sports and cultural activities.

"We are introducing a curriculum that will not remain confined within classroom walls," he said. "Every structure and policy from now on will be based on how effectively we can teach students."

Director General of the National Academy of Primary Education Farid Ahmed and other officials were present at the programme.
