
KHULNA, May 18: The inaugural ceremony of the "KUET Police Outpost" was held on Monday noon at the campus of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology, with Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud and Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Hasan attending as chief guests.
The programme was conducted in a brief and simple manner in view of a mournful atmosphere prevailing on the campus.
At the beginning of the ceremony, deep respect was paid to the memory of deceased Architecture Department student SM Sayem Ferdous. Organisers and attendees observed a solemn tone throughout the event, and no formal speeches were delivered by the guests.
Later, the chief guests jointly inaugurated the "KUET Police Outpost" by cutting a ribbon. Following the inauguration, they also unveiled the nameplate of the under-construction building of the police outpost, located in front of the intersection adjacent to the KUET IT Park.
Immediately after the inauguration, a doa mahfil was held, conducted by KUET Central Mosque Imam Mufti Jubayer Hasan. Prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for the departed student SM Sayem Ferdous, as well as peace, safety, and continued prosperity for the university community.
Students, teachers, and officials of KUET were present during the programme. Due to the solemn circumstances, the event concluded without any elaborate formalities or public addresses.
