Special PP appointed in Ramisa murder case

Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs has appointed Advocate Azizur Rahman Dulu as Special Public Prosecutor to handle the sensational Ramisa murder case in the capital's Pallabi.

The appointment was announced through a ministry notification issued on Saturday. 

According to the gazette, the lawyer has been assigned to represent the state in Pallabi Police Station Case No. 35. The case is currently pending before the Dhaka Metropolitan Tribunal for Prevention of Violence Against Children. The appointment will remain in effect until further notice.

The gruesome murder came to light on the morning of May 19, when police recovered the beheaded body of young Ramisa from underneath a bed in a flat in Mirpur's Pallabi area, later finding her severed head inside the bathroom. 

A murder case was subsequently filed with the local police station. 

Police initially detained Swapna Akhter, wife of the prime suspect Sohel Rana, before arresting Sohel himself. 

The prime accused, Sohel, has already given a confessional statement before the court admitting his involvement in the brutal killing.
