Litton joins Galle Gallants to play LPL

Bangladesh T20 captain Litton Das has become the latest Bangladeshi cricketer to be signed directly for the upcoming Lankan Premier League (LPL) after Galle Gallants acquired his service.

The franchise announced the signing ahead of the players' draft, posting on social media "Bangladesh, your star has arrived. Litton Das is ready to light up the 2026 LPL for the Galle Gallants."

The upcoming season will mark Litton's second appearance in the LPL. The wicketkeeper-batter represented Galle Titans in 2024, playing three matches and scoring 34 runs.

Litton has previously featured in several franchise leagues, including the Indian Premier League (IPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and Canada's Global T20 competition. He was also drafted by Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but was unable to play because of injury.

Several other Bangladesh cricketers, however, are also expected to be available in the LPL players' draft. The tournament will run from July 17 to August 8.

The LPL window aligns with Bangladesh's international schedule, potentially allowing players to participate after the national team's tour of Zimbabwe, which concludes on July 19.

Bangladesh are then scheduled to play a Test series in Australia on August 13, with the squad expected to leave the country about a week before the opening Test.    "BSS
