Electricity price hiked

The authorities of Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Wednesday announced new electricity prices at wholesale and consumer levels.

As per the announcement, the wholesale electricity tariffs have been raised by 19.85 per cent, while the retail prices for consumers have increased by an average of 16.68 per cent.

BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed announced the new rates at a press briefing. 

The retail electricity tariff has been raised by Tk 1.52 per unit, bringing the average consumer rate to Tk 10.63 per unit.
