According to a press release issued by Naogaon-16 BGB on Wednesday, the incident took place around 4AM near Adatola Border Outpost (BOP) under Sapahar upazila.

Members of India’s 29 BSF Battalion from Elenpur camp attempted to push nine individuals- three men, three women and three children into Bangladesh through border pillar 244/MP, it said.

Following the intervention, the nine individuals were left stranded in the no-man’s land between the two countries’ borders.

Additional BGB personnel have been deployed in the area to maintain security, and surveillance has been strengthened with the help of local residents, the press release added.

Lt Col Md Ariful Islam Masum, commanding officer of Naogaon-16 BGB, said patrols in the area have been increased after the incident.
