The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a ban on all forms of processions, rallies, protests, and the carrying of firearms in areas surrounding the National Parliament, effective from midnight on Saturday (June 6).

The order comes ahead of the second session of the 13th National Parliament, which is the scheduled budget session.

A public notice signed by DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed on Friday stated that the restrictions are necessary to maintain peace and order around the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area for the smooth conduct of the parliamentary proceedings.

The ban will remain in effect until the conclusion of the session.

Under the powers granted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance, the authorities have prohibited the carrying of any weapons, explosives, or harmful substances, as well as any demonstrations or assemblies within the designated restricted zones.

The prohibited areas include:

- The western end of Banglamotor Link Road to SAARC Fountain at Sonargaon Hotel.
- Panthapath from the eastern end through Green Road to Farmgate.
- Mirpur Road from Shyamoli crossing to the Dhanmondi Road 16 (old 27) intersection.
- From the Begum Rokeya Sarani intersection through the Old 9th Division (Airplane) crossing to Bijoy Sarani.
