Dhaka-12 Member of Parliament Saiful Alam Khan Milon has claimed that Jamaat-e-Islami created Islami Bank and alleged that the banking sector suffered widespread looting during the previous Awami League government.

He made the remarks at an Eid reunion programme held at Tejgaon Industrial Area Colony Bazar in the capital on Friday night.
He said the current government has not yet paid enough attention to establishing good governance.

Referring to the banking sector, the Jamaat lawmaker alleged that widespread corruption and looting took place during the previous government's tenure.

Claiming a connection between his party and Islami Bank, he said, "We created the Islamic Bank."

He also alleged that a person accused of corruption and whose family members have a history of loan default has been appointed chairman of Islami Bank.

Milon further claimed that many ATM booths of Islami Bank currently do not have enough cash, causing difficulties for customers.
