Youth held with firearms in Noakhali

NOAKHALI, June 9: A young man was arrested along with 3 foreign pistols, 8 rounds of bullets and 3 magazines from a police check post on the Gopalpur-Banglabazar road in Gopalpur Union of Begumganj Upazila of the district on Monday evening.

The arrested Md Rahim, 21, is the son of Jasim Uddin of Basantabag Village in Ward No. 8 of the union.

According to police sources, on suspicion police stopped Rahim at the check post arriving there on a motorcycle at around 6:15 pm, and after searching his body, found the firearms and ammunition. The police also seized the unregistered motorcycle used at that time.

Noakhali Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Abu Tayyab Md Arif Hossain said that the process of taking necessary legal action in this incident is underway.
