Bangladesh have recalled fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Nahid Rana for their upcoming three-match Twenty20 International series against Australia, selectors announced on Thursday.
The pair return to the squad after missing Bangladesh's previous T20 series against New Zealand last month, replacing pace bowlers Ripon Mondal and Mohammad Saifuddin.
Chief selector Habibul Bashar unveiled the squad at a press conference in Dhaka, with few surprises as the selectors largely retained the core group that has featured regularly in the shortest format.
Left-arm spinner Abdul Gaffar Saqlain kept his place in the squad, while fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib was omitted because of injury concerns.
Bangladesh also confirmed a change in the team's leadership group ahead of the series, appointing batter Towhid Hridoy as vice-captain. Hridoy replaces Saif Hassan, who requested to step down from the role.
"Saif Hassan informed us that he wanted to step down from the vice-captain's role. We respected his decision and have appointed Towhid Hridoy as the new vice-captain," Bashar told reporters. The three-match T20 series against Australia will be played in Chattogram on June 17, 19 and 21.
Bangladesh have also named a squad for a one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Harare, scheduled to begin on June 28.
The Australia series will serve as an important test for Bangladesh as they continue preparations for a busy international calendar in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.
