1 held over DU student harassement

A female student of Dhaka University (DU) was subjected to obscene gestures by an outsider, prompting her to physically restrain the man until university authorities arrived and handed him over to police.

Accused, identified as Amir, 24, from Ghorer Par area of Kurigram Sadar upazila, was later handed to Shahbagh Police Station by the university’s proctorial team. 

Victim, a first-year student of the Philosophy department (2023-24 session), filed a written complaint at the station the following day. According to the complaint, the incident took place in front of Shamsunnahar Hall on Monday around 8:30 pm as the student was returning from private tuition.
