State Minister of Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Tuesday said Bangladesh has no shortage of talent, but proper opportunities are needed to ensure its effective development among students.

Speaking as the chief guest at the National Education Award Competition held at the Directorate of Primary Education in Dhaka, he said the government is taking initiatives to promote students’ abilities in areas including music, debate, sports, science and other creative fields from the school level.

Bobby Hajjaj said there is no reason for complacency about the country’s talent pool, adding that while talented students are abundant, the proper environment for nurturing their skills is still lacking.

He said the performances of students participating in the National Education Award competitions clearly demonstrate their potential in various fields such as music, dance and recitation.

The adviser said the government is working to create an environment where students can reach the highest level in the areas where they have natural abilities. He added that students with skills in music should receive quality training from school, while those interested in debate and sports should get opportunities to compete at international standards.

He said similar opportunities will be created for students aspiring to excel in cricket, football, tennis, badminton, and traditional sports.

Bobby Hajjaj said the initiatives will be implemented with the involvement of students, guardians, teachers and education officials. He added that no one will be allowed to obstruct efforts aimed at developing the talents of the next generation.

The event was attended by Directorate of Primary Education Director General Shaheena Ferdous and other officials.
