Tarique Rahman Waits Three and a Half Hours in VIP Lounge After Aircraft Returns from Runway Due to Technical Fault

The aircraft carrying Prime Minister Tarique Rahman left Japan’s Narita International Airport for Dhaka after a delay of nearly four hours. The Biman Bangladesh Airlines aircraft departed for Dhaka at around 10:45 pm local time on Thursday (October 29). Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, and other members of the accompanying delegation were on board.

The delay was caused by a technical fault in the aircraft. After the problem was detected during preparations for take-off, the aircraft was brought back from the runway. As a result, the Prime Minister initially had to wait inside the aircraft for around 30 minutes. He then waited for three and a half hours in the VIP lounge at Narita Airport.

At around 6:18 pm local time, the aircraft left the terminal and proceeded towards the runway. However, it stopped before take-off. About 15 minutes later, pilot Imam said in an announcement that the aircraft could not take off due to a technical problem.

The pilot said that two engineers were working to fix the fault. He added that the flight would resume once the problem was resolved. The aircraft was subsequently brought back from the runway to the tarmac.

After completing his four-day state visit to Japan, the Prime Minister was scheduled to depart Tokyo for Dhaka at 6:00 pm local time on Thursday. According to the original schedule, the flight was expected to arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 10:35 pm Bangladesh time. However, the technical fault delayed the departure, resulting in changes to the scheduled arrival time.
