A large tree was uprooted and fell across the road in front of Eden Mohila College in the capital on Sunday morning, bringing traffic to a complete standstill and triggering severe congestion in the area.
The incident occurred at around 11:30AM, as continuous rainfall lashed Dhaka throughout the morning. No casualties were reported, as the road was relatively empty at the time.
According to eyewitnesses, the prolonged downpour had softened the soil, causing the tree to suddenly collapse onto the roadway.
The fallen tree completely blocked the road, forcing vehicles to stop and resulting in long queues on both sides.
Commuters and drivers remained stranded for an extended period as traffic came to a halt.
