Deputy Registrar suspended

Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities have suspended Deputy Registrar Md Nur-e-Kamal over alleged discrepancies in the medicine inventory at the university medical center. Authorities also formed a four-member inquiry committee to investigate the matter, identify those responsible, and determine their liability.

JU Acting Registrar Dr A B M Azizur Rahman confirmed the directives through two separate office orders on Thursday.
According to the order, the administration formed the probe body under Section 5(k)(1) of the ‘Jahangirnagar University Employee Efficiency and Discipline Ordinance’ to investigate the stock mismatch and verify the allegations.To ensure a fair investigation, the authorities suspended Nur-e-Kamal, Deputy Registrar (Store) of the medical center, under Section 10(k)(2) of the same ordinance following recommendations from the Medical Center Advisory Committee.

The administration has formed a four-member probe committee, appointing JU Treasurer Prof Dr. Abdur Rob as the head and Deputy Registrar (Council Branch) Alauddin Molla as the member secretary. The other members of the committee are Microbiology Prof Dr. Salekul Islam and Philosophy Associate Prof Dr. Abdus Sattar.

The committee must submit its report within 15 working days.
