Tripura CM sends pineapples to Tarique Rahman as goodwill gift

Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha sent 780 kg of pineapples as a goodwill gift to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman through the Akhaura Land Port.

The gift arrived around 1:00PM on Wednesday, July 29.

A total of 620 famous "Kew" variety pineapples of Tripura were sent in 100 boxes. Each box contained five to six pineapples, with each fruit weighing over one kilogram on average.

Assistant Consular Officer Pankaj Jyoti Das and official Sajib Chakraborty from the Assistant High Commission of India in Chittagong, along with Akhaura International Immigration Police Inspector Md. Alauddin and Akhaura Customs Revenue Officer Jasim Uddin, were present at the Zero Point of Akhaura Integrated Checkpost to receive the gift.

Representing the Tripura state government were Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Aporba Roy, Director Dr. Phani Bhushan Jamatia, Advisor to the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Dr. Rajib Ghosh, and Border Security Force (BSF) officials.

Officials from the Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation handed over the pineapple packages and necessary documents to the Indian High Commission officials.

Aporba Roy, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of Tripura, said that friendly relations exist between the two countries. He stated that the Chief Minister sent the Kew pineapples to the Bangladesh Prime Minister to further strengthen bilateral friendship and commercial ties.
