
An elderly woman’s body was exhumed about 12 hours after burial in Jamalpur’s Melandaha upazila and taken to a hospital, where doctors confirmed she had died.
The incident took place on Saturday night in Nayapara village under Mahmudpur union. The deceased was identified as Halima Begum, 65.
According to local residents, Halima Begum was buried on Saturday morning after her death. Later in the day, some family members reportedly claimed, citing what they described as supernatural guidance, that she was still alive. Acting on that belief, the family exhumed the body.
The body was first taken to Melandaha and later to a private hospital in Jamalpur town, where doctors conducted examinations, including an ECG, before confirming her death.
The body was subsequently taken back home.
Family members and the doctors involved declined to comment on the incident.
