Army chief launches Int'l Islamic Instt in Jalsiri

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Monday inaugurated Army International Islamic Institute (AIII) at Jalsiri Housing Project in the capital.

He also unveiled, through video teleconference (VTC), the foundation stones for AIII campuses to be established in Barishal, Savar, Bogura, Sylhet, Chattogram, Cumilla and Jashore, according to an ISPR press release issued on Monday afternoon.

The Bangladesh Army has long been contributing to the country's education sector and human resource development through the establishment and management of quality educational institutions.

The ISPR said the institute has been established to integrate Cambridge curriculum-based English-medium education with value-based learning in order to develop knowledgeable, ethical and competent future citizens in line with the changing needs of the time.

It expressed the hope that AIII would emerge as a centre of excellence for education and the promotion of religious and moral values.

Students of the institute are expected to grow into disciplined, patriotic and morally upright citizens inspired by the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah, and to contribute to the welfare of the nation.

The initiative is also expected to play a significant role in nurturing responsible leadership at both national and global levels, the release added.

Principal Staff Officers at Army Headquarters, General Officers Commanding of various divisions, senior military officials, distinguished persons associated with the institution, teachers, students, guardians and media representatives attended the function.
