Miscreants attempted to set fire by pouring petrol at the residence of Shakib Al Hasan, former MP for Magura-1 and former captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team.
The attackers also pelted stones at the house, shattering the glass window panes. The incident occurred around 9:00pM on Wednesday (August 5) at his residence in the Keshab More area of Magura town.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, a group of miscreants hurled brickbats at the house, damaging the glass windows. They also poured petrol near the main gate and attempted to set it ablaze. Although a minor fire ignited at the gate, it extinguished quickly.
Magura Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdullah Al Mamun stated that the identities of those involved in the arson attempt could not be immediately confirmed.
He added that police personnel have been deployed around the residence following the incident, and efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the culprits involved.
