Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has alleged that attempts are being made from across the border to create unrest in the country under the guise of workers' demands.
He made the remarks at a roadside rally at Katakhali intersection in Bagerhat on Thursday.
Noting that the government had formed a wage board to address workers' demands, the Prime Minister said the government was working to protect industries and create employment opportunities in the country.
"Some people are trying to create disorder in Dhaka. We have formed a wage board, and it will determine the salary structure.''
The prime minister alleged that some unruly elements were attempting to create unrest from across the border under the pretext of workers' demands and had vandalised factories.
"Those who failed to change people's lives over 16 years were forced to flee. Now they are trying to create disorder from across the border," he said.
Warning that the destruction of mills and factories would undermine the country's economy, the Prime Minister described industrial establishments as national assets.
"They are plotting from across the border to destroy these industries. We must resist them, and the people must stand up against such attempts.''
