Folk singer and composer Mujib Pardeshi, best known for the popular song “Ami Bondi Karagare” (I am imprisoned), has been sent to jail following a court order in connection with a cheque dishonour case.
The order was issued as part of the execution of a one-year sentence previously handed down over a bounced cheque worth Tk 1 million.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Prosecution Department Sub-Inspector Helal Uddin confirmed on Wednesday that Mujib Pardeshi was produced before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah on Tuesday, after which the court ordered his imprisonment.
