Rajshahi Stars eye second round in AFC Women's Champions League

With a new jersey and new sponsor, Rajshahi Stars FC are stepping up preparations to prove themselves on the AFC Women's Champions League stage.

Nepalese defender Bimala BK joined the team's fourth training session at home on Wednesday. She also played for the Bangladesh Women's Football League champions in the previous season.

Bimala thanked the club for giving her another opportunity to play for Rajshahi and said she hoped the team would advance to the second round of the continental competition.

"Thanks to Rajshahi Stars FC for giving me another opportunity to come to Bangladesh. I want our team to qualify for the second round of the tournament," she said.

Bimala said the team's success was more important to her than individual achievements, while she also hoped to perform well enough to make Nepalese supporters proud.

"For me, the team's success comes first. I want the team to do well in this tournament. At the same time, I want to perform well and make the Nepalese people proud," she said.

Rupna Chakma, Swarna Rani and Surodhwani Kisku will share goalkeeping duties for Rajshahi.

Goalkeeping coach Rabiul Hasan Khan expressed confidence in the trio and said he was working on plans to help them perform well in the tournament.

Rajshahi Stars are scheduled to leave for Malaysia on Aug. 15 morning, subject to final arrangements.
