Two dengue patients died while 723 new cases were hospitalized across the country in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday morning (August 12).
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the update in a press release on Wednesday.
According to the DGHS, 320 new patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka division, 101 in Barishal, 98 in Khulna, 83 in Chattogram, 63 in Rajshahi, 45 in Mymensingh, 12 in Rangpur, and one in Sylhet division over the last 24 hours.
With the new figures, the total number of dengue cases rose to 21,550 this year up to August 12.
The total death toll from the mosquito-borne disease reached 63 with two new fatalities reported during the period.
A total of 19,894 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals across the country so far this year, while 1,593 patients remain under treatment.
In 2025, a total of 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths were recorded nationwide. A total of 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths were recorded in 2024, while 1,705 deaths were recorded out of 321,179 hospitalizations in 2023.
